Check and make sure their shelter is leak proof so when it rains they aren't barking because they are getting soaking wet, or that they have shade to hide from the sun beating down on them during a hot day. Not only will the sun make them bark from discomfort, but it can make them very sick if they are exposed to it long enough.

The last thing you should ever do is punish your dog for barking. This is their way of communicating with you, and being punished for it will only confuse the poor pup. Especially, if they are barking from loneliness or anxiety, this can cause the problem to get worse, hurt you and your dogs relationship.
